Pace Obstruction Patches

Pace Obstruction Patches, otherwise known as POPs, are holes punched through the fabric of space-time, slowly or accelerating time for anything within. These holes can be as narrow as a person or as wide as an ancient structure. POPs are 10km tall. Due to the fact they puncture through the fabric of space-time, they disturb all known planes, which causes other planes to leak into these areas. The predominant side effects of acceleration POPs come from the collapsed Edge Sea, while the side effects of deceleration POPs come from the folding inwards of spacetime in the Prime Nexus. All POPs experience a "thickening" of the Cords, meaning they have a higher density of cords than is typically observed within a plane as if the universe is treating the POP as a hole in the plane.

There are two major types of POPs: acceleration and deceleration. Acceleration POPs are formed around terraforming and monitoring infrastructure. Deceleration POPs are formed around Mother Trees; however, they can be mapped as they do not change position or density. "Rogue POPs" are a sub-type that occur sporadically throughout the world and can be both acceleration and deceleration varieties.

NOTE: Rogue POPs are actually caused by Alronian (and Neterar'iris) jump points. These were places where scientists from the Edge Sea created portals to reach the Prime Nexus. These jump points were left open, so they are exposed to the chaos and unpredictability of the Astral Sea, which is why they can be both types.
Acceleration POPs are caused by terraforming infrastructure and were deliberately influenced to accelerate time around them. Deceleration POPs are caused by Mother Trees that were deliberately decelerated to allow for the terraforming infrastructure to work.

Objects caught within POPs will be accelerated forward or backward, depending on the POP they are within. This can reverse an adult to a child or forward a child to an adult. It is nearly impossible for anything grown outside of a POP to grow within a POP at the same rate. A birth within a reverse POP is incredibly rare and only occurs when the fetus is conceived within the same POP. POP influence is relative to its size; a smaller POP will accelerate or decelerate anything inside it faster, whereas a larger POP will be much slower.

The standard is 10 seconds per square meter.
A zone of 360 square meters would increase/decrease someone a year every 3,600 seconds (60 minutes) spent in the zone.
A zone of 6 square meters would increase/decrease someone a year every 60 seconds (1 minute) spent in the zone.
10 x y = z (y=square meter, z=total seconds spent).

POPs extend through all of Orīrī's space-time, leading to POPs on other planets and in the void of space. These zones retain their Infrastructure Radiation, with the intensity weakening the further away from its source. Some POPs are larger than small planets, and can completely engulf them, irradiating the planet and subjecting it to extreme temporal conditions.

Flora and Fauna Found Within POPs

Objects native to POPs, such as ones created or grown within POPs, do not experience time in the same manner as those outside of POPs. A plant grown within a POP continues to grow at the temporal speed of the POP, even when removed. The same is true for animals: if a living creature becomes pregnant inside a POP, the infant will be immune to the effects. This trait is not passed down to offspring.

Anything grown within POPs is also subject to the thickened cords. This thickening causes unusual side effects on all living things. Flora develops the unique property to grant visions of the past or future when consumed - this effect is far weaker than Neuterium, though it is still caused by mutated Cord microbes. Fauna develops a strong connection to a unique form of magic known as Temporal Magic (see Veins Of The Cords). This connection can also be formed by the mother consuming large amounts of flora grown within POPs.
