Dragon Materials

Dragon crystal is the most valuable geode in the world. Dragon crystal is formed through dragon fire melting raw material into geode-like structures; dragon fire burns the outer layer into a hard shell while the inside crystallizes. Nearly everything can be turned into dragon crystal, from flora to sand to dirt. Dragons are considered the most formidable creatures on Omuin, making dragon crystal extremely dangerous to find and gather, as these geodes are found near or in the lairs of dragons. This rarity has made dragon crystal rise in value, as these beautiful geodes have come to be considered a status of wealth/power. Dragon crystal is commonly used in jewellery or fine dinnerware, though it has also been used to create ornate statues and crystal windows.

Dragon hide and scales are the most valuable hide in the world. As dragons are incredibly hard to fell, dragon hide is equally difficult to come by. Hides must be prepared properly, with scales stripped off without tearing the delicate membrane beneath. Dragon hide is extremely expensive unless the slayer is commissioning the piece directly, as it takes a great deal of labour to find, slay, skin and prepare the beast and hide. Scales are commonly used in armour, as they are the hardest substance in the world to pierce. Hides are commonly used in clothing or furniture, as it is the most durable material to work with.

Dragon teeth and claws are easier to find as dragons shed them every few years. They are commonly made into cutting instruments or jewellery. However, they are no less expensive, as they need to be collected from within/around a dragon's lair.

Dragon Meat

Dragon meat has unique and unexplained properties. Due to the infrequency that dragons are felled and eaten, the effects are understudied. However, significant changes have been noticed in those affected by the consumption of dragon meat. While dragon meat doesn't directly affect the individual who ingests it, their offspring develop strange and unnatural traits.

Fire immunity is caused by a thickening of the skin into small, imperceptible scales. As a result, the skin is slightly metallic and shines in the light, in accordance with the colour of the dragon that was consumed.

Species such as Qhenzeits, Nockvein and Dragnaels are born with gold eyes and complete immunity to fire and heat. As they develop, they grow larger than what is typical for their species, with the vestigial wings of Dragnaels developing into functional wings. Qhenzeits and Nockvein typically develop large ridges along their spine.

Species such as Im'uth, Caisni and Sun'all are born with the common traits of immunity to fire and heat, as well as gold eyes. However, they can develop uncommon traits, such as vestigial or developed wings, claws, horns, a tail (or tail stump), ridges along the spine, and the ability to breath fire (or another element). Uncommon traits rarely manifest in multiples - often times a child is born with one or two of these traits.

Species such as Keeri, Om'ail and Qhuv'ots, the changes are either non-existent or barely noticeable. These species develop an immunity to fire and heat and are born with gold eyes.
